Announcements

Seniors - planning to attend community college after high school there will be a presentation by DVC in the MU at 10:10am on 2/17

Senior Parents - The FAFSA form is the gateway to all federal and state aid, is necessary for Cal Grant, and is sometimes required for private scholarships (eg the Rossmoor Scholarship).  The following sources may be of help. Remember, the CalGrant deadline for both the FAFSA and GPA verification form is March 2nd. Many private colleges have earlier deadlines. Make sure your student submits all financial aid forms before their deadline.  Click HERE for more info

College-bound Juniors - Interested in possibly attending the Air Force Academy or considering an AFROTC scholarship?  If so, you are invited to apply for a highly competitive week-long program at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs,  CO.  PSAT, PLAN, SAT or ACT scores are required.  Apply online (deadline 2/28/10)

Junior Parent Night - 2/18 @ 7pm in the Multi-Use Room. This is an opportunity to double check graduation requirements (bring a copy of your student's 5th semester transcript).  Learn about Junior and Senior activities - the evening will conclude with a presentation on college admission

Juniors, click here to find out why it is SO important for you to take the STAR tests seriously and to answer the extra EAP sections - including the essay!  EAP can tell you about your college readiness in adequate time to prepare.  It can make senior year a time for more direct and specific preparation for college.  Best of all, it will exempt CSU-ready students from taking CSU placement tests or the SAT or the ACT.

Practice Tests: - For students wishing to try out their test taking skills  - practice test on Saturday 1/30 at 9am in the MU.  Students can choose either the ACT or the SAT. There will also be a practice SAT on Saturday 3/6/10. The fee for each test is $15 to cover janitorial costs. Sign up at the web store or in the Career Center.

2010 National Test Dates:
  • ACT Feb 6, Apr 10, Jun 12
  • SAT Mar 13, May 1, Jun 5

Changes to UC Freshman Eligibility for Fall 2012 - New policy to give more high-achieving students the chance to apply to UC and receive a full review of their applications.
